The Akron office of Roetzel & Andress is seeking a full-time Litigation Legal Assistant with a minimum of 6 years of litigation experience. Roetzel is a full-service law firm with offices located throughout Ohio, Florida, and Chicago. The firm provides comprehensive legal services to national and international corporations, closely held and family-run businesses, institutions, organizations, and individuals.
Primary Responsibilities
Provides administrative and clerical support to the attorney(s) in support of their specific practice group’s needs and requirements.
Key Duties/Accountabilities Includes, but not limited to:
- Format, proofread, and finalize detailed correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents; prepare and finalize basic correspondence and other documents as necessary.
- File pleadings in state and federal trial & bankruptcy courts, courts of appeals and Supreme Courts; communicate with court staff as necessary; keep current with changes in court rules and filing procedures.
- Complete assignments and overflow work from various practice groups
- Transcribes/type all correspondence, produce letters, court documents, legal forms, and internal administrative forms as directed or required.
- Maintain orderly filing of correspondence/documents in iManage for all matters
- Maintain updated professional schedules/calendars
- Manage appropriate communications with clients and professional associates
- Complete and process required forms for the opening of new matters and closing files as directed and in accordance with established procedures.
Recommended Position Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalency, with a minimum of 5 to 6 years of litigation legal assistant experience.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and perform the duties above in a timely and accurate manner.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees and vendors.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have the ability to work as part of a team environment, as well as to work independently.
- Knowledge in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and accounting software system (Elite preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to meet time-sensitive deadlines is required.
