Wells Brothers Inc. is currently hiring an experienced Industrial Painter to join our growing team. To be successful in this role, you need to be self-motivated, team orientated, punctual, have a high level of integrity, and have the ability and willingness to teach and learn.
Essential Duties
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain a low Safety Incident Occurrence History
- Clean and prepare surface of item to be painted. If there are previous finishes on the surface, remove them using masking, grit blast or chemical rinse. Then clean and smooth the surface and let it dry before painting.
- Prepare pints using measurement equipment such as viscosity cups, thickness gages and gloss gages to check the makeup of the paint, and use understanding of chemistry to mix the appropriate compounds for the job.
- Apply Paint using a variety of techniques and tools to paint surfaces. May use spray equipment, airbrushes, stencils, rollers or brushes. Must choose the best tool for the job at hand. Paint on primers, pre-finishes and finishing coats. May need to use special safety equipment such as self-contained suits, respirators, or protective eyewear.
- Clean work areas after jobs are complete. Carefully follow all guidelines for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste.
- Responsible for maintenance of painting equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot any problems that the equipment may have.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.
Experience and Requirements
- 3 years of experience in automotive or industrial equipment painting
- Experience wet painting using a gun
- Ability to push, pull and lift to 50lbs on occasion, stand, bend, stoop, squat, reach and sit for long periods of time
- Must not be afraid of heights or confined spaces
- Have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work overtime including weekends and holidays as needed
- Ability to adapt to changing schedule and easily and positively adjust to changing priorities and department processes.
- Ability to simultaneously handle the demands of internal and external customers
